See p. 69. The passage from Epistolae Rerum senilium reads: 'hic non possedit divitias sed a divitiis possessus est.

86 n., says that 'perdiste el nombre de libre, quando catiuaste tu voluntad' (La Celestina, i. 122; 66) is a commonplace of the Petrarchan lyric, and refers his readers to Petrarch's Canzone iii. He does not say that this is the source for Rojas, but limits himself to the phrase 'con parole somiglianti'. The words are not, however, similar, and it is hard to see any connexion between the two passages.

Samonà, 147 et seq., discusses Celestina's speeches in their stylistic aspect.

Rojas knew this Dialogue well, making two borrowings directly from it.

Only nine borrowings are added to acts before Celestina's death, and she uses a majority of them.

There is one animal exemplum of the type used by many medieval writers, but it occurs in the acrostic verses (i. 9-10; 7-8), and its origin is not Petrarchan.
