This website shows the results of the research project «AWESOME: American Women Exploring Spain (1880-1936) - Open Multimedia Encounters”, led by Sara Prieto García-Cañedo. The project is funded by the Call for “Proyectos Emergentes GE 2023» from the Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society Office from the Generalitat Valenciana.

Between 1880 and 1936 a group of prestigious American writers visited Spain. Not much is remembered about their trips, as little has been written about them. This is the purpose of AWESOME: to further research, from a multidisciplinary perspective, the stories of these writers and their emancipatory aspirations, as well as to further explore on travel literature and the cultural relations between the United States and Spain, aspects which have not yet been explored in-depth.
